Position Purpose
- Develop, implementation, and oversight of health and safety systems and processes related to the project construction of the Nyanzaga gold mine.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive HSE training programs for employees at all levels.
- Coordinate the field activities of the Perseus HS personnel.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and update health and safety training matrix for employees at all levels.
- Create engaging and informative training materials, such as manuals, presentations, videos, and e-learning modules.
- Ensure training plan align with current OSHA regulations, Mining industry standards, and best practices.
- Conduct classroom and hands-on training sessions on various health and safety topics (e.g., emergency procedures, fire safety, workplace ergonomics, hazard identification).
- Provide training for new hires, ongoing refresher courses, and specialized training for specific roles or departments.
- Organize and facilitate safety drills and emergency response exercises.
Qualification / Experience
- Relevant certifications (e.g., NEBOSH, OSHA, or similar HSE qualifications).
- Proven experience in developing and delivering health, safety, and environmental training.
- Strong knowledge of regulatory standards, such as OSHA, EPA, and other international safety and environmental regulations.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and organizational skills.
- Ability to motivate and engage employees in safety training and compliance.
Technical Capabilities
- Ensure all training programs follow local, and national health and safety regulations (e.g., OSHA, HSE).
- Keep abreast of changes in health and safety legislation and update training programs accordingly.
- Maintain records of all training sessions and ensure proper documentation of employee participation.
- Assist with hazard identification and risk assessments in different work areas to ensure effective training responses.
- Maintain accurate records of training sessions, materials, and employee certifications.
- Prepare and submit reports on training activities, progress, and outcomes to senior management.
- Assist with the development of health and safety.
Non-Technical Capabilities
- Work closely with department heads and supervisors to tailor training programs to specific departmental needs.
- Collaborate with the HR department to ensure proper onboarding and safety training for new employees.
- Ability to write reports, make presentations, and run meetings.
- Develop skills in building people capability, including the ability to coach both direct and indirect reports.
- Resilience, flexibility, and adaptability to manage self and teams, and to balance appropriate professional rigour and detail within a dynamic and often ambiguous environment.
- Ability to build constructive relationships and networks within the business and externally.
- Self-confidence and composure to effectively interact with personnel at all levels of the organisation.

- Good computer literacy skills using standard and custom software packages.

Where You’ll Be Working
Nyanzaga Gold Project is Perseus’s first planned operation in Tanzania, located in the Lake Victoria Goldfields. A Final Investment Decision was made in April 2025, with first gold production targeted for early 2027.
The project places strong emphasis on sustainability and local development, with programs dedicated to employment, skills training, infrastructure, and long-term social outcomes. Once operational, Nyanzaga is expected to become a key contributor to Perseus’s future growth and a flagship project in East Africa.
