The Role
Perseus Mining is looking for an Exploration Superintendent to manage and deliver new exploration projects that support our long term growth objectives. This is a senior position responsible for supporting exploration programs, establishing operations, and delivering high-quality results from concept through to discovery.
Reporting to the Exploration Manager, this role is responsible for:
- Managing greenfield exploration projects from initial target generation through to resource definition
- Assisting with the setup and management of in-country operations
- Applying geological expertise to identify and evaluate mineral deposits
- Designing and overseeing exploration programs including mapping, sampling, geochemical surveys, geophysical surveys, and drilling
- Analysing and interpreting geological, geochemical, and geophysical data using GIS and related software
- Building and leading multidisciplinary teams, providing mentorship and technical guidance
- Coordinating with contractors, agencies, and stakeholders to ensure efficient operations
- Developing and managing exploration budgets and controlling costs
- Preparing technical reports and presentations for management and stakeholders
About You
To succeed in this role, our ideal candidate will have:
- Full professional fluency in French and English (Please provide resume in English)
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in mineral exploration, with significant work in West Africa
- Tertiary qualification in Geology from a recognised institution
- Experience establishing exploration operations in new jurisdictions
- Background in corporate development or acquisition of exploration projects
- Strong commercial acumen for evaluating joint ventures or deal structures
- Track record in bringing greenfield discoveries through to resource definition
- Experience managing multi-disciplinary and cross-cultural teams
- Familiarity with government permitting processes in West Africa
- Established professional network within the West African mining industry
- Proficiency in geological and GIS software such as Micromine, QGIS, Leapfrog, and ioGAS
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with proven ability to prepare technical reports and presentations
It would be beneficial if you have:
- Postgraduate qualifications in geology, finance, or a mining-related discipline
Where You’ll Be Working
This position is based in Guinea, on a 6 weeks on, 3 weeks off roster, in one of West Africa’s most prospective yet underexplored regions for gold.
The country hosts major gold belts that extend from neighbouring jurisdictions and offers significant potential for large-scale discoveries, supported by improving infrastructure, a growing mining sector, and opportunities to contribute to local community development.
