Perseus Mining is seeking a Superintendent – Security to join our team at the Meyas Sands Gold Project in Sudan to oversee security operations at the site, ensuring the safety and security of our personnel, assets, and operations
Reporting to the Manager, Security, offered on a 6 weeks on, 3 weeks off roster this role will:
- Implement and manage the integrated security and community stability strategy at the site.
- Supervise and support security personnel, ensuring effective site-wide security management.
- Maintain and enhance the local community security network.
- Monitor, assess, and report on local, regional, and national security threats, including political, tribal, terrorist, and insurgent activities.
- Regularly liaise with the Community Relations Manager to maintain effective community relations and stay informed about local activities.
- Develop and nurture relationships with government bodies, military, police, diplomatic entities, UN representatives, and other key stakeholders.
- Oversee security arrangements for exploration teams and ensure alignment with overall security protocols.
- Supervise in-house guard force activities, training, and development.
- Conduct formal security risk assessments and maintain an up-to-date security risk register, including evacuation routes and emergency procedures.
- Manage security systems, vehicle tracking, and access systems to maximize safety and prevent theft.
With a minimum of 7 years of experience in operational security experience, in addition to demonstrated experience in a superintendent capacity, you will have the ability to collaborate with varying stakeholders, in addition to developing and strengthening relationships with the local community.
- Proven experience in mine site security management.
- Strong knowledge of security management systems, protocols, and technologies (e.g., CCTV, monitoring systems, emergency management, asset protection).
- Expertise in evaluating security threats and vulnerabilities in mining operations.
- Experience in managing emergencies, including theft investigations (e.g., fuel theft).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for reporting and liaison.
- Strong leadership and personnel management skills, including training and development of security teams.
- Ability to assess security risks quickly and implement effective strategies.
- Proficiency in Arabic is preferred.
Qualifications and Certifications:
- Tertiary qualifications in Security Management, Criminal Justice, or a related field.
- Certified Protection Professional (CPP) or equivalent security management certification.
- Occupational Health and Safety Certifications (e.g., NEBOSH) are highly desirable.
This role is based at our Meyas Sands Gold Project in Sudan on a 6 weeks on, 3 weeks off roster.
The Meyas Sand Gold Project sits on the Arabian-Nubian Shield (ANS), close to Sudan’s northern border near Egypt, around 900 kilometres north of the capital Khartoum.
