The Role

Perseus Mining Yaouré is seeking an experienced Geology Superintendent to join our Mining team at the Yaouré Gold Mine. Based on site, this role plays a key leadership function in supporting our gold operations by overseeing grade control, mine geology and reconciliation processes in a dynamic open-pit environment.

Reporting to the Mining Manager, the Geology Superintendent will ensure the delivery of accurate and reliable geological data to support safe, efficient and cost-effective mining. The role is responsible for leading the site geology team, maintaining high operational standards, and ensuring strong governance of geological systems and processes.

Reporting to the Mining Manager, this role is responsible for:

  • Developing and maintaining accurate grade control (GC) models, DIG blocks and associated geological databases
  • Utilising geological software (including Micromine and OrePro) to interpret, analyse and manage grade control and geological data
  • Ensuring geological models are regularly updated with new drilling information and production results to support operational decision-making
  • Analysing grade control data and providing recommendations to optimise mining performance
  • Conducting regular mine-to-model reconciliation of mined material against resource models to ensure accuracy and reliability
  • Maintaining and improving ore finger and stockpile management, optimising blending strategies to meet grade and mill feed targets
  • Leading and mentoring a team of geologists, technicians and field staff to deliver high-quality geological outcomes
  • Ensuring all geological activities comply with company safety standards, site procedures and the SHED – Safely Home Every Day safety program

About you

In addition to a BSc in Geology or Geological Engineering, our ideal applicant will have:

  • Minimum of 15 years of professional experience, with at least 5 years specifically in open pit gold mining operations
  • Technical knowledge in mineral resource estimation and reconciliation methodologies
  • Advanced English speaking and writing skills
  • Proficiency in geological software (Micromine) and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Knowledge of contemporary technology applied to open pit mining
  • Strong organization, planning, negotiation, problem solving and analytical skills
  • Good working knowledge of geology-related QA/QC standards and methods
  • A strong financial acumen with the ability to track costs, maintain budgets, and ensure cost-effectiveness in grade control and mine geology operations
  • Competence in procedural knowledge, including initiating, documenting, and maintaining procedures
  • Proficiency in data management to monitor and ensure accuracy of geological data

It would be beneficial if you have:

  • Experience working in West Africa
  • French language skills
  • Substantial experience in geostatistics

Where You’ll be Working

Yaouré Gold Mine is Perseus’s third operation, located in Côte d’Ivoire, West Africa. The mine commenced production in December 2020 and achieved Commercial Production in March 2021. In September 2023, the operational life was extended through to at least 2035.

The mine is expected to produce approximately 210,000 ounces of gold annually over the next five years, with an average AISC of US$1,104. Perseus is expanding operations with the upcoming CMA Underground Project, Côte d’Ivoire’s first mechanised underground mine, which is scheduled to commence in mid-2025 and extend the life of operations.
