Perseus Mining are seeking an Underground Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join the underground mining team at our Yaoure site, based in West Africa. Reporting to the Underground Tech Services Superintendent, this role will lead the establishment of the site geotechnical processes to support underground mining.
- Develop, establish, and manage the Underground Ground Support Management plan
- Ensure adherence to industry best practices in all geotechnical tasks, planning, and execution.
- Apply geotechnical engineering principles to the overall mining plan (design and schedule).
- Support mine design through geotechnical and rock mechanics principles, including site investigations, rock mass characterization, and ground control design.
- Oversee the collection of geotechnical data and install geotechnical instrumentation.
- Maintain underground geotechnical QA/QC programs.
With a degree in Geotechnical Engineering and at least 7 years of underground hard rock mining experience, our ideal candidate will:

- Have significant experience in longhole open stoping
- Demonstrate a track record in mining geotechnical projects across operating mines and developments in challenging environments
- Possess strong knowledge of relevant geotechnical standards, legislation, and codes of practice
- Show meticulous attention to technical design, review, and compliance
- Exhibit leadership capabilities, able to work both independently and collaboratively within diverse teams
- Previous experience working long rosters
Located within West Africa, Yaouré Gold Mine is Perseus’s third operation, commencing production in December 2020. Achieving Commercial Production in March 2021, Yaouré’s operational life was extended to at least 2035 in September 2023. The mine is anticipated to yield approximately 210,000 ounces of gold annually over the next five years.
