Perseus Mining are seeking a Senior Underground Mining Engineer to join the underground mining team at our Yaoure site, based in West Africa. Reporting to the Underground Tech Services Superintendent, the Senior Mining Engineer will play a critical role in executing the CMA Underground Project, ensuring industry best practices while fast-tracking development to meet our production milestones.
- Lead the mine planning and drill & blast teams to ensure a seamless, optimised mine plan.
- Develop and manage LOM, 12-month, 3-month, and monthly schedules with a focus on efficiency.
- Identify bottlenecks, constraints, and opportunities to maximise project value.
- Drive mine standards, safety, and engineering best practices.
- 6+ years of underground hard rock mining experience.
- Expertise in mine planning, design, QA, and contractor management.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering or related field.
- Strong competency in Deswik and proficiency in Ventsim.
- Proven experience in longhole open stoping.
- A collaborative, problem-solving mindset with troubleshooting experience in underground operations.
- A leader who can train, develop, and mentor their team.
Highly Desirable
- West African experience.
- French language skills.
- Experience with Pronto ERP systems.
- Experience working in both open pit and underground integrated operations is highly regarded.
Located within West Africa, Yaouré Gold Mine is Perseus’s third operation, commencing production in December 2020. Achieving Commercial Production in March 2021, Yaouré’s operational life was extended to at least 2035 in September 2023. The mine is anticipated to yield approximately 210,000 ounces of gold annually over the next five years.
