The Role
Perseus Mining is seeking a dedicated Security Superintendent to support security operations at our Sissingué Gold Project, located in Cote D’Ivoire, Africa. With demonstrated security leadership experience in the African mining sector, the Security Superintendent will be responsible for quickly analysing situations to develop effective security strategies and identify potential security issues or breaches. This position requires building strong relationships with employees, contractors, and local communities while upholding high ethical standards and reliability, remaining adaptable to evolving security risks.
Reporting to the Security Manager, the Security Superintendent will:
- Review the corporate security management systems to ensure the ongoing safety and security of company personnel and assets.
- Implement the integrated security community stability strategy.
- Supervise security personnel on site and maintain the community security network.
- Monitor and report on local, regional, and national security threats.
- Liaise with local community members and government agencies to maintain effective relationships.
- Oversee contract guard force activities and support exploration team security arrangements.
- Conduct formal security risk assessments and maintain the security risk register.
- Manage site access systems and ensure compliance with the UN Voluntary Security and Human Rights Principles (VPSHR).
- Provide input into the training and development plans for security personnel.
About you
As a natural leader who can inspire and motivate security teams, in addition to engage effectively across diverse stakeholders and cultures, our ideal candidate will:
- Have a minimum of seven years leading operational security teams, in addition to at least three years of experience in Africa.
- Proficient in both English and French language skills
- Be proficient in security management systems and protocols, including investigations, emergency management, and asset protection.
- Demonstrate expertise in using security systems, CCTV, and monitoring technologies.
- Possess the ability to evaluate security threats and vulnerabilities specific to mining operations.
- Exhibit skills in managing emergencies, including theft investigations and natural disasters.
- Maintain a sound working knowledge of electronic security access and surveillance systems.
- Show strong verbal and written communication skills for transparent reporting and stakeholder engagement.
- Lead by example, providing training, guidance and support to the ensure an effective and cohesive security team.
Where you’ll be working
This position is based at Perseus’ second gold mine, Sissingué, located in the north of Côte d’Ivoire, near the Mali border. Since the mine was developed in January 2018, Sissingué has consistently exceeded expectations in production and efficiency, with potential for further growth through additional satellite deposits.
This role is offered on a 6 weeks on, 3 weeks off roster.
