PERSEUS MINING COVID-19 virus UPDATE 31 December 2020

The health and well-being of our employees and contractors and their families is of the utmost importance to us during these difficult times.

Significant efforts by all Perseus’s site and corporate management teams has gone into maintaining business continuity in the face of the global COVID-19 challenge.

As at 31 December 2020, there continues to be no cases of COVID-19 virus infection reported by any of Perseus’s employees or contractors operating at Edikan, Sissingué. At Yaouré, only 3 cases of COVID were diagnosed from our 2,000 or so construction workers and after isolation all employees achieved full recovery and rejoined the work force.

As previously reported Perseus has donated both cash and goods, to assist our host governments and host communities in Ghana and Côte d’Ivoire in their efforts to fight the spread of COVID-19 virus in West Africa. The provision of the financial and practical assistance by Perseus to our host governments and communities is consistent with Perseus’s sustainable mining strategy.

  • Established a business continuity committee tasked with the overall management of the safety of our employees and the continued operation of our business.
  • Education, social distancing, temperature screening, sanitation and hygiene measures in place at all operations.
  • Mandatory 7-day quarantine period for all arrivals to West African sites.
  • Regular communications with all employees and the market on this evolving situation.
  • Quarantine facilities have been set up in Yamoussoukro and Abidjan which are overseen by a medical provider, Medicis. Two ICU beds have been secured in Abidjan (including ventilator and trained medical support) to accommodate employees if they contract the virus and their condition requires intensive care. We are working to establish a similar facility in Accra, Ghana.
  • Perseus’s management team are working with the regional governments in Côte d’Ivoire and Ghana, as well as international agencies to plan for the rotational movement of essential people and in extreme circumstances, medical evacuation.
